FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Telecasters / Anyone have a Gotoh GTC101/2 bridge ?

It comes with either brass or steel saddles. Just wondering if anyone has replaced the stock bridge that looks the same on a squier or other fender/squier that uses this type of bridge and what they noticed tonally with the gotoh over stock. Heres a link to the pic.....

I have this exact bridge (with stainless steel saddles) on my La Chupacabranita Tele-bastard.

The quality of this bridge is extremely good, but I can't compare it, sound-wise, to anything stock because this Telething was a build.

My guess is the tone would not be much different at all from the stock unit you're replacing.

Here's the deal with steel and brass saddles: anyone that swears there's a difference has never done a blind listening test to prove to themselves one is decidedly different from the other.

Unless a person has done that to an accuracy of 60% or better, everything you read about sonic differences is all blah blah blah and nothing more.

This hideous beast.

Thanks, but yeah, I need to hear from anyone who's replaced a stock unit, as thats the only way to know. Anyone swapped the stock unit out for this? And if so did you get the 101 or 102? The 102 has has steel and the 101 has brass. I also read somewhere the one with brass also has a brass plate, and i have to assume the one with steel saddles has a steel plate. I DO hear the difference between brass and steel by the way, and quite clearly. At least with a traditional 3 barrel tele bridge. I also note considerable differences in some brands of brass vs others. Some are as different from each other as steel is from brass in general.
