First post on this forum, wish I knew it had existed earlier as it's a mine of info and I'm hoping I get some sound advice.

I've owned the above guitar since the early 1980's and for the past 4 years never played it due to work, family, dogs etc...so it justs sits in its flight case. I kind of feel guilty that it never gets played anymore as they are such great guitars.

I played it every day for years so it's had some good use and the laquer is coming off the neck and fret board and the wiring to the pick ups needs sorting as it stopped working on one set and crackles on the other.

I was seriously thinking of paying to have all this rectified and then start playing it again but already struggle to get in any playing on my acoustic. So reluctantly I'm going to sell it but haven't a clue of where is best or what it's worth...I've tried to look on line but only prices for the reissues.

It's in natural wood if that makes any difference or just prefernces...any advice other than just stick it on classifieds or Ebay?

You have a first-year, CBS-era Deluxe with the highly coveted Seth Lover pickups, assuming it is all original. In good working order it could be worth something like $2500 or more. Check out gbase.com to get some price ideas.

It should not be compared to a reissue mostly because the pickups are not the same, nor are worth same. Can you post a picture of it? I would believe that a fresh setup with new strings and a controls cleaning would be affordable and would help sell it. The electronics problem hopefully could be corrected with some electronic control spray cleaner and lube. I suggest you take it in and get an estimate for a once over. You could post back here with the estimate and we could share our opinions, which are plentiful. Worse case is it needs a new string nut and new frets.
