Trying to get my Strat bridge P.U. tone to more accurately replicate the Tele bridge P.U., and faithfully get that classic Tele/bridge response. I completely understand the actual physical/electronic differences between the two pickups and also the effect the different mounting variations have on each guitars tone. Using a typical (Boss, Ibanez, DigiTech, etc.) 7 band graphic EQ pedal designed for guitar, What baseline frequencies should i be concentrating most on? I am of the school of thought that is almost always better to cut frequencies rather than artificially boosting them, and then make up the overall loss in signal by slightly boosting the pedal's overall output. So, specifically. should I be cutting freq in the 200, 400, 800 range and lightly boosting the top around 6K? I know tone is very subjective and my unaltered PU sound is good already, just trying to really zero in on a faithful Tele bridge tone. Thanks!

Best thing to do would be to emulate the response curve of the Tele pickup with the Strat pickup.

The only way to do that is compare the curve of both, and then nudge the freqs in the direction you need.

Here's a Tele bridge pickup; resonant peak is ~2.5K

And here's the Strat bridge pickup (pink line).

All that aside, the way a Tele pickup cuts through has a lot to do with the metal bridge and the metal base plate and how that structure affects the magnetic field.

If you're bent on getting closer to a Tele tone from your Strat, install a Tele pickup in it. I have a Strat with this mod, and it does get fairly close.

Notice the resonant peak @ ~4K

Thanks, Peegoo. Really appreciate the freq charts. I am playing in a musical context that requires me to be able to create a lot of different, varied tones on command, and I have set up my strat to be very versatile to achieve this. I understand about the metal bridge/P.U. mounting plate on the Tele, the baseplate on the Tele bridge P.U. (have attached one of the Lindy Fralin bp's already) and the fact that the Tele bridge is mounted directly to the body (no trem cavity or trem springs, even if blocked) and different saddle configuration. I need the typical strat bridge sound for certain things, but also need to get very close to the Tele twang on others, but out of one guitar, hence the graphic EQ. This helps very much!

Cheers, brother.

Get your hands on a o-scope and a parametric EQ, and you could *really* dial it in :o)
