As well as the offset telecaster, Fender announced a new american jazzmaster with a bigsby. i am unsure what this does that the original jazzmaster doesn't do other than look different. isn't the bigsby like the fender floating term?

It's a cheaper way to add a trem to the stoptail faux Jazzmaster I suspect.
No interest in a Jazzmaster without the actual proper trem.

I'm with Rob on this one.
OTOH, taking one of those Telemaster things and adding a Bigsby might be fun.

Well, I have to agree with you guys. I have little interest in the new JM with a Bigs. It looks from the distant photo that in cheaping out and using the B50 on this guitar it has the short vibrato arm. Picking between the PUs and palming the wang bar would not be very comfortable.
I don't like the B50 (licensed import) Bigsby. IMO it is a turd pile compared to the B5. I do have one on my Epi WildKat but had to completely "blueprint" it to make the thing tuning stable. Plastic bushings, nothing rotates freely. When these hit the streets I expect to see complaints.
Although I kinda like the look, I'm afraid the tone of these offsets will change quite a bit with the Bigsby.

I'm a big Bigsby fan, but that just looks clunky/clumsy; completely ruins the sleek 50s/60s futurism of the Jazzmaster with the heavy early 50s iron of the Bigsby. It would be just as inappropriate on a Strat. Only fitting on LPs and Teles and Flying Vs a la Lonnie Mack IMO.

Bigsby's are a PIA. My Gretsch 6128TEE has one and one is enough. I'm sure the Bigsby trem influences the tone but...love the guitar.
