The neck and bridge pickups in series will result in a fatter tone, but how does it compare to a neck PAF HB?

Generally, a neck HB is fatter still, because it excludes the higher harmonic content captured by the bridge pickup.

I say "generally" because it's true for standard-format (Gibson style) humbuckers. Some stacked and rail types in a single-coil package are fairly bright sounding.

I just have to experiment to see whether I'd prefer a neck HB or neck and bridge pickups in series.

I tried the series wiring once and found the sound fatter (and very ugly-sounding) than any of the small handful of HBs I've tried. A mini HB is my choice for a neck pup.

I have a 4 way switch in my anniversary model with Custom Shop Texas Specials. Love it, fat but has the higher cut through tones of the bridge. Slight volume increase so great for going to for solos.
