Thanks, Grizbear. It was a fun project, but just simple elbow-grease in cleaning, derusting, replacing missing/bent parts, polishing. (Then I saw on Ebay the largest tom in the same white, same era and NOS, which considerably added to the cost of the set :^) I think it's good to go but want a real drummer to check drum stand heights, head tension, and setup of the snares on the Ludwig.

Dean, the drummer down here, says his kit is also available; whatever works best, especially for transport, is fine with me.

Let me just get this on the record: So grateful to get support from so many New Jersey brothers! It means a lot and will help make this a solid jam.

I've also got a spare room for an out-of-town FDPer; it's been claimed by a NJ'er but waiting to hear confirmation that he's coming.

As for Saturday night, I'm up for any low-key socializing, possibly joined by my wife, whether it's a restaurant meal, music, or a home drop in. I can't really focus on this yet, though, with other priorities to think about.

For those so inclined, on Sat., March 5 evening, the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, is offering an a capella music festival/competition.

No instruments, please

Ok Kids, the Big Dog and the Mighty B3 (digital) are coming down! Hopefully there's room on the stage for my Leslie!

Grizbear, thanks, brother. I have mics and stands covered.

Here's the PA details for all who may be interested. This is not a large venue, so I'll scale it accordingly.

I'm figuring four vocal mics (includes one for the drummer if needed).

I can run a single channel of floor wedges to help everyone hear what's going out the FOH, which will be two 2-way 12s on stands (no bass tubs).

If anyone is planning on bringing anything that needs additional mics (like congas), please bring mics and stands for 'em.

It's probably a good idea to limit guitar amps to single 12s and less than 30 watts or so because getting a larger amp into the sweet spot means cranking it up. And that will kill everything in the room.

We don't have to be ear-bleedin' loud to sound great, but...

there's usually someone!

I will bring mics/stands for the Leslie if you all think I need to mic it. Small room I tend to doubt that it will need it, but I will need channel on the board for my harp amp.

I plan to revisit the Electric Maid soon, armed with tape measure and camera to get better data on the space issue.

As for the house PA, which has powered speakers, we can't use that unless a volunteer technician is available to run it. I need to settle that question (or find out how much of a "contribution" is needed).

Right now, I'm assuming Peegoo's system will be needed but we will see how things unfold.

K9- no need to mic that B3/Lesie rig... the room is not that big or open like the OTL
I will share your harp amp set up. Looks like there will be a few harp songs to go around

Evan might make it so there may be a tenor. there is a local DC guy on alto i think and I can always bring one of my saxes depending on how little I can get away with bringing. So far looks like most of the PA is covered so I will probably bring the bari depending upon song selection.

speaking of song selection....only 10 have voted on the LoL. Andrew its your jam and you have not voted...lead by example and vote! HAHA!

Need a green bullet for the harp? If so I'll bring one.

If we can get someone to sing Blues Hand Me Down (Vintage Trouble), I'll play guitar on it.

Geno- if you can play it I CAN sing it
I have no problem doing James Brown so I know I can do this justice. This sounds like the Black Keys fronted by James Brown- very cool sound

it will go on the LoL Part Deux for write in votes. If we get enough people on board it might make it on the jam

I've pinged Highway Star (Ron), who is a fine player. He can handle just about anything because he's a true bottom dweller :o)

that would be great if Ron can make it! He is a local (sorta) and a fine fine bass player

last time I jammed with him it was the Fracas in Manassas

My Brethren of the DC Jam;

I step away from the blog for a couple of days, and Lo & Behold; you managed to describe my vision of heaven.

A hot jam with a B-3, horns, & the possibility of playing a set of vintage Slingerland drums. The "Music Gods" and I want this to HAPPEN! Bring it On! Thank-You,Thank-You, Thank-You.

ok there have been a LOT of write in votes which necessitates a LoL Part Deux

The nice thing is a lot of them are newer songs which is welcome but surprising as well. It is my hopes that you all listen to the songs you dont know before passing judgement.

for instance this one came out in 2015, hit the charts but sounds like a 50s era song due to the I–vi–IV–V progression

wanted to add:

I am taking the suggestions in the LoL but that does not mean you cant suggest in this thread or in email to me.

I am hoping a lot of newer tunes come out of this so we can expand our horizons and get a little out of our comfort zone. Remember when we did Ska at Clamfest- that was a blast and we did it justice. We have also done heavy metal at Clamfest as well as big production songs. Lets start this first DC jam with some really cool new tunes
