FDP Forum / Home Recording Forum / Wow!! I've just got my hands on the Line 6 Helix - Put a little track together...

Hi everyone,

I finally got a Helix to play around with. I was busy putting a new track together for my new album and thought it might make a nice demo to show some of the tones. I recorded the Helix directly into the desk.

The drummer, Larry Rose and I put the basic structure together and I added the guitars.

I used the Les Paul playing with my Plexi patch and the Strat using my Hiwatt patch. I used the Les Paul in the "chorus" parts of the song with the Strat playing the "verse" parts.

The first verse is completely clean and the second is slightly more driven. I thought that the Strat worked well with this patch.

The only post processing that I carried out was a bit of noise reduction on my Strat parts as my Strat is quite a noisy guitar.

There is also a chorused clean Les Paul playing through the whole track. For this part I used my Jazz Rivet patch.

I also decided to track the bass through the Helix and used my G Cougar 800 patch.

Overall I'm loving this unit. I'm also busy putting together my first video in the series on the Helix.

Hope you enjoy...

Cheers,

Peter.

Sounds great. Has some grit to it but not fizzy! Sounds like it responds well to your playing too.

Sounds really nice. Love the clean strat tone, but you did a nice job on the OD tones as well. It sounds real amp-like.

I've always been a fan of Line6's stuff for recording. I haven't heard anything live that bowls me over though.

I agree, very amp-like on the clean and semi-clean tones. Nice sound as usual.

Thanks guys,

Tyrone, I felt the same way as you about the live tones but after I've spent some time with it, I've been really impressed.

I've just uploaded my first demo video of the Helix. It's in the "misc" section.

I've covered a few amps.

Cheers,

Peter.

Thanks Chris. I have put the video together and uploaded on YouTube. I've been accused of spamming this forum with my videos so I haven't put it up here for viewing.

If you send me a private message I'll send you the link.

Cheers

Peter.

Sounds great but very processed. Would be a great tool if that's what you're looking to do with it.
