the common HBs where simply one coil is switched off still sound like weaker HBs then. I had some of them (a 1996 Gibson SG e.g.).
Once again: the only convincing solution came after I got my Yamaha Pacifica with a SSH configuration. The bridges HB is simply two SCs switched together, where one coil can be simply loggged off by pulling the tone poty!
Now you have both options. Convincing HB- as well as SC sounds!
