I have a tele which I use strat pups in the neck
Well I replaced my tex mex neck pup with a custom shop 69 and the tone of this pup is awesome but along with the better tone is more 60 cycle hum. I owned many pups and the only other one I had that sounded this great were in my Robert Cray. Anyway to get to the point it's the noisiest pup I ever owned. My guitar is shielded about as good as be done and all the wring is perfect. I have a custom shop no caster pup in the bridge and although I get normal hum it's much much less than 69. I wonder if the hum is just part of the design to get that old school tone?

I have a set fitted to a Classic '70s RI Strat. They hum no more or no less than my other Strats fitted with Fender vintage type pups (57/62s and Fat '50s) and the more modern voiced Fender single coils (Texas Specials, Tex Mex).

When I play my single coil Strats I have to turn the overhead lighting of in the guitar room and other rooms in the house because I get bad hum and buzz. All guitars are shielded to a degree, some only the pickguard and others the pickguard and cavities with shielding paint. None have shielding tape applied to the cavity or any other after market shielding mods.

If shielding and wiring is perfect I can't say what the problem would be.

Are you sure your rig is exactly as it was before testing the CS69? There shouldnt be more hum in my opinion. Is there a possible ground loop in your amp or pedal setup?

I have to agree with Tony about the hum with the CS69. I have one in my Gilmour build and it seems to be noisier than the other PUs in the guitar or any other Strat PU I own.

These seem pretty hot and distance from the amp seems to help.

I have a set of 69s in one Strat (and sets of TX Specials and 57-62s in the other two). The 69 neck pup is slightly noisier than the other two but by far the best sounding. Almost 3D in depth and articulation as compared to the other two neck pups. That is my go to pup for clean work with no gain or dirt pedal which minimizes any noise issues; it is a little noisier than the others with gain or overdrive but worth the trade off because of the great tone. I use the other guitars for the dirtier tones.
