FDP Forum / The Squier Forum / Squier Bullet Strat VS a "Real" Strat...

Just a question... how are bodies and necks on these Bullet Strats in comparison to a Standard Strat? I'm well aware that the hardware is junk and would need upgrades all around, but I'm liking the color selections on these (classic) and would probably buy one JUST for the body and the neck. But I don't want something slimmer than a standard normal Stratocaster....

Don't assume the hardware is junk - it may well be perfectly serviceable.

Past that, I don't know, as I don't generally look for Strats these days so the Squier variants aren't something that come into my cave.

Yes, I meant that I ASSUME the hardware is junk (cheap)

I don't have the exact measurements in front of me, but the Bullet's bodies are in fact slimmer than a standard Strat's.
The neck on my son's has a bit of chunk to it and is quite comfortable.
The "classic" colors on the Bullets I've seen in shops seem a bit off from the Fender classic colors we know and love. Just my opinion, of course, but online pictures can be deceiving.
That being said, Bullets are a good, inexpensive platform for mods. Keep in mind you may need to do a bit of drilling or routing, depending on your replacement hardware choices.

That's what I needed to know... I want a full size Strat, not a slimmer one... thanks!

So I went to Guitar Center yesterday to compare... the Bullets looked and felt like toy guitars to me, especially compared to the standard Strats. Even the Affinity Strat was beefier! I liked the colors, but I will hold out for something with more substance
