And have them email the artist presets/amp preset pack to you, it's not on the site any more but they still have it and it works (and you can upload one at a time if you just want to check them out!)

Received and installed today. I just had time to do a quick fly through the presets, we shall see. Ken, do you have the stand alone editor installed as well? I see all functionality in PT but think it would make sense to have the editor loaded to make off line tweaks, etc.

One thing I do wish is that this thing had a mute button so I didn't have to shutdown my powered monitors first before powering off the 11 rack. POP! Oy!

Does turning the volume knob help?

(I don't have my monitors directly connected, so...)

Also: there's a mute button in the editor, and *might* be in the system settings somewhere.

I just hooked up a separate power strip for my powered monitors, that way I can turned them on/off after the 11R has been powered on/off. The 11R's volume knob doesn't have the typical 0 to 10 detent, it's just a spinner, so I don't think there's any way to use it to prevent an explosive power up.

I called Sweetwater and asked about the artist/rig presets. I'm expecting a call back as the rep was checking into it, but I thought I sensed a little uncertainty to it's availability.

I had the opportunity to mix a guitar player at church who was using an Eleven Rack and thought that it sounded very good in that setting. Not quite as good as the Helix, but more than passible tone wise.

It's available, I had the same uncertainty.

Can email them to you if you'd like.

No, I don't. PT11 does not give access to it directly like the earlier versions. It does not offer it as a plug-in either. I have no idea why they eliminated it from the latest versions but, there is no reference to it whatsoever in PT11 or 12. That has forced me to learn to program the ER via the front panel controls.

It hasn't been a problem for me in that all I ever use it for is as a guitar amp. Once the tracks are recorded I'm done with it. If I wanted to change parameters on the fly I'll bet there's a way to do it. It's supposed to be fully MIDI compatible so SYSEX data should work. I'd just have to dig into the manual to figure it out. Not something I want to do when tracking. Maybe at mixdown. I hate technical distractions when I'm tracking a new song.

A followup after using the thing a while.

I'm still impressed.

When I want to dial something in with the options of things they've modelled, it's quick and painless and close enough or better than I expected.

It also may have spurred me to buy a tube Marshall for the first time, well, ever.

But whether it was noting a guy's settings on an actual Tweed Deluxe for Neil Young's "Dead Man" guitar burn and making a patch that was 98% there or better just by dialing it in by the numbers..or a bit ago on a whim when I wanted to see how close I could get to the original Sex Pistols studio stuff with the BF Twin cranked to ludicrous levels with a Les Paul.

I turned the knobs to 10 across the board (trem off), bright switch doesn't really matter at max everything, cranked the speaker distortion, and went with a brighter mic (ribbon or the condensers was spot on) and a VERY small amount of plate verb.

And it was there.

While I'm still using my other ones (particularly for variety, as one manufacturer's model, just as actual vintage amps, varies enough to blend well together if you've got the luxury of access to variants of the same thing)...it flies very well with my existing rig.

I won't be selling off my amps (hell, I bought another one since getting it!), and the effects section is limited as all get out compared to other things in my arsenal....but for what it does and how fast I can get something I want (whether shamelessly stealing a sound or 'I wonder what X would do'), well worth the $13 a month it's costing me for the next 20 months or so!

Good to hear. I've come to a bit of an arse-scratching fork in the road and haven't dug in for a while. But just noodling through presets and settings I feel confident that the orange box can deliver pretty much anything I need.

I bought an Eleven Rack used recently and really like it for direct recording, both guitar and bass.

As far as the pop when powering up or off, wouldn't you use it just like a mixer? Power the 11Rack up then turn on your speakers/amp and reverse the sequence when powering down? That's all I've got.
A friend of mine has one of these and the different artist settings are very realistic and the way they behave with the guitar is quite astounding! Really nice!

Yep, that is correct. Just something to remember after years of having my previous audio interfaces mute any power up mishaps.

I *really* like the 11 Rack. Played it for years before getting an Axe FX II XL+, which is also cool and offers more options and control. The only rack processor I've never bonded with is my Kemper.

Anyone have a recommendation for an expression pedal that works with the 11R?

No idea, on that if you didn't have one on hand, I'd just call Sweetwater and ask.

Here ya go Larry.

I have been told that about any expression pedal that's used as a MIDI foot controller for a synthesizer will work as well. I have an old MIDI SYSEX volume pedal for a DX7 that I should try to see if it will work. I think I remember reading somewhere that the Eleven Rack has a "Learn" mode when attaching a pedal so it can determine pedal positions for minimum and maximum.

I took this right out of the manual;

"In addition to commonly-used expression pedals,
a standard volume pedal with a “Y” adapter
cable (two 1/4-inch TS plugs to one 1/4-inch TRS
plug) can be used, though keep in mind that the
taper of the potentiometer in a volume pedal is
exponential, rather than linear."

Thanks Ken. I have a Morley volume pedal and a drawer of y-cables, maybe I'll do some experimenting. I did see the pedal you linked at Sweetwater but was hoping for something more budget friendly. I'd really like something to control stop/brake/fast on the Leslie effect in real time.
