"How do you know they are OEMs in the CVs? Did Tonerider tell you?"

Hi brent.
Tone rider can't declare it publicly for some reason, but it's a well known fact throughout the guitar forum world. (google it)

I also have physically compared my stock Squier pickups to the Tonerider Vintage Plus (the A5's) and the only differences are (IIRC) the OEM have a plastic covered wire and the TR's are cloth; and the model numbers are the same with the exception of the letter "F" appearing on the stock pickups.

Model #'s: TRT1N(F) & TRT1B(F) (I think)

I still have the stock pups but they're in storage atm so I can't put my hands on them right now. However I'm pretty sure my remarks above are correct.

Mick I guess I'm not understanding your reply I never questioned if the CV tele pickups were tonerider or clones of them only that the CV blonde has been changed from a3 to a5 same as bsb CV tele nothing else...my opinion a big mistake and confusion in the secondary market sales of CV blonde tele.

Hi brent.
My main point was that if you preferred A3's to A5's, and liked the tone of the previous stock pickups, you could change the pups to the A3 Toneriders for short money.

That would give you exactly what the CV's used to be equipped with.

Ok I understand your point, I love my vintage blonde cv tele with the a3...guess that future buyers of the cv will have to sort that change out themselves and buy the a3 original pups if desired.. thanks for your info on the subject.
