Steve: Good point, well taken.

I keep thinking Local Event versus Regional Event (New Kid on the Block Syndrome). Again the safety of all of my fellow traveling players is paramount. Another factor to consider.

Another question; will bad weather be a factor for the other weekends mentioned too? We won't know that till then.

I'm going to do this the easy way, whatever the date chosen is: I'll be there.

They are forecasting a possible tropical depression depending on the course of the storm. Sat. the 10th I have a gig, but Sat the 17th is good for me. I work on Sundays on my real job so am not available on those days . .

Hi lads and ladies...time to weigh in! FWIW, it looks like a bunch of peeps won't be able to make this week regardless of the weather. If the weather does turn nasty, the travelers will most likely bail too. I think Picnic's offer of the following Sat(Oct 10) is the way to go. We'll have a much better showing of players and the weather looks great according to "WeatherNJ website long range forecast (If i'm lyin, I'm dyin!)and maybe old buddies PeeGoo and IPlayloud can make the date too...It's all good. ;^D

I can do the 11th or the following weekend. The 10 the would not work without moving a few other things and getting the boss to agree (Big maybe)

Forecast improving. According to www.weather.com it's now a 30% chance of rain and the forecast calls for the rain in the AM. I think regardless of the decision it should be made tomorrow rather than today to see the trend. There's always a chance that the new day picked would turn out to be a rainy day so best to have more accurate picture for this Saturday before abandoning it. My $0.02 (which is admittedly biased).

Last busy weekend of the season for me and now a hurricane decides to come. GRRRR. I have an event scheduled for Friday with 250 guests that may go to Monday.

Big deconstruction project is scheduled to start on Monday also. Work crew already set to start on Monday disconnecting electric and water to the main pavilion (where we have the jam) I don't want to play in the rain, but I don't want to back up the start of the demo a week or two. It's tough to get the contractors nailed down to a definite start time and moving mine would screw up the other jobs.

we will have a better ideal on the storm's track by thursday afternoon. So we will make the call then.

rain is one thing but a possible hurricane is a totally different matter. Even if we don't get hit with it the winds are going to be insane. Fri-Sun the winds will be above 20MPH (Sat is to have 27MPH winds). So with a little rain the wind will make it horizontal and driving not nice. We need to be aware of those who travel. Even if we break early its no big deal to the local guys to have a short jam but it may not be worth it for those who do have to go a distance

Due to more than just rain I vote for a postponement

forecast seems to be getting worse. 90% chance of rain Friday and Saturday and now instead of breezy they are saying windy

Did I mention that I'm right in line with Gman? Like my Grizbear brother says, "safety of all is paramount". Remember this quote from the "LittleHand" book of prose.."he who see hurricane and runs away, lives to play music on another day"! Enough pearls of demented wiZdom. Picnic, ya think the construction will be completed by next Saturday? :^O

I am for a postponement too. But the bad news it maybe until next spring. Once the demo gets going, power and water will be cut to the pavilion. I could run temporary electric and water out there, but I'm gonna have my hands full with the project.

gary, reno is gonna take a couple of months

My fellow "Clammers"; I think the music Gods have spoken and have other plans for us! A hurricane, a renovation project, and a multitude of personal conflicts of interest regarding dates. I can take a hint!

Pete: I wasn't aware of the renovation project you had planned; you do what is best for your operation. You absolutely have a plate full there. So whatever decision you make will be right.

To paraphrase the Rolling Stones, "Time is on Our Side", next year will work out, regardless. Look at the bright side, it gives us more time to "Woodshed". (for the benefit of Littlehand that means "to practice"; I still don't understand why Mom likes you the best!)

G-Man: The song list is done already, you can "tweek" it if you want to; but "Mission Accomplished". We can always negotiate personnel changes at a later date, or make some song changes; no big deal.

Steve: Your right. Spring or Fall, this will give some players another opportunity to join the festivities.

So! All is not lost.

Remember the De Blasio De Blizzard in January? They closed NYC off and ended up with a few inches. That storm was supposed to be a sure disaster. This one is a crap shoot by all accounts. It was supposed to rain all day in NJ on Tuesday. It rained only over night. It was supposed to rain all this week in NJ. It rained one night so far.

I think NJ has a dome over it like that funny TV show I had to stop watching. “What’s the dome trying to tell us?”

While the prospect of a year without Clamfest ® is quite the bummer, if the wind will be blowing rain sideways I would vote to scratch. We tried playing in the pavilion years ago in the rain, and even with some plastic down you will get wet. Not fun...

with all the folks bailing last minute there are a ton of holes in the list

7 with no guitars and 14 with only 1 guitar.
21 songs that wont be played out of 55

Hate to say it but i think we should push it to the spring....in every forecast the wind is almost 30mph regardless of the Hurricane hitting or not. With a little rain that is not good for electronics. With a lot of rain its just nasty and dangerous

So next spring it is. Dates in May 16 are pretty well filled already, but Memorial Day weekend usually has availability.

I'd have to agree with you Gman. It wouldn't be much fun to play in the rain and only play half the tunes or pack up and leave early due to weather conditions. As much as it hurts to say it but I think it's a good idea to hit it again in the Spring when the weather will be better and more time for other players to mark their calendar and practice. It also gives time to tweak the set list if we have to. There are also some conflicts with rescheduling to another weekend this month due to things happening in life and Picnics up coming construction project. I say we go all in balls to the walls this Spring to make up for it. I say more Stones songs to rock the Spring out of the up coming cold weather ;-)
