After giving things another listen...the first mod no longer pulls my ear.

What continues to pull my ear is the transition at the end of the "clean bridge" .....when the head comes back....it sounds quiet, despite the fact that it is identical to the original submission earlier in the song.
Volume is relative.

I think you are a great player.

Roly, yes that volume issue bugs me too. I think I pushed the guitar a db or two but it still comes up weak to my ears. I think its probably because it drops back to just 1 guitar. A doubled part, organ riff, maybe some scat singing until the melody kicks in, lol.

You might mult the guitar during the section where it's dropped back to one guitar onto a separate track - then perhaps eq it differently or treat it with a different fx chain to compensate with frequency domain FX or other things to make it seem less of a drop?
