This is early in the process. There are vocals coming later. There are four guitar tracks; strums with the piano downbeats, three note stabs with trem, a two note track that comes and goes way back in the mix, and some melodic support. It was about 5:30 am after a long day when I did the last track and it needs a couple fixes. There's one point where I grabbed a riff and muscle memory ran it off a bit fast for the measure. I'll be replaying the whole track.

Overall though, it captures the feel of another original from my son who played piano, bass, synth trumpet, and programmed the drums. Real drums are coming later.

Work in progress - some fixes needed.

Sounds cool. I really like the 2 turn around chord changes. Is there some distant vocalization in the background? Deliberate? It has a cool effect.

It's bleed. I was under the headphones playing the melodic track and forgot to cut the monitors. I was blending two different mics on separate speakers of a 4X12 and they picked up a bit of the monitors. That's not the end vocal track. It's just a place holder. I'm re-doing that guitar track anyway.

Very good overall "sound".

I know this is rough but for what you've got I'd back that guitar off in the beginning It's competing too much with the trumpet, which sounds like the main instrument in the intro to me. Bump it up when the trumpet ends.

Thanks.

I like the trumpet and wanted more of it.

Apparently the composer/arranger hears it differently and is anxiously awaiting the new guitar track.

With vocals in place the guitar is much less present and is there supporting the singer either directly or call/response.

I think the trumpet will wind up with a more ethereal position in the mix which is fine for muted play.

I like it. Hard to decide about the balance until the vocals are in. As is, I want more guitar with more reverb. (but that's me!)
