I've had a pro tools 10 system with a dedicated computer windows 7 lap top with a focusrite scarlett 18i6 rig for over 2years( all was bought brand new) well I got so intimidated that I let everything lie in limbo(for over 2 years, even the computer has been barely used.) So I decided that i was gonna learn this stuff. so, i bought a book...and let me tell ya I am as confused as ever. I thought I had optimize the laptop for protools...but I am having problem after problem and the book can only get so far...can anybody recommend anything to help me get on the fast track??? I want to start making music again!

I have several problems all concerning the hearing the playback. I can't hear my click track( I've made sure its not muted, the volume is on and I double clicked the metronome for sound during playback etc..nothing) I can see that the sound is being pickup by the meters and the main fader.
Another problem I can not hear my recorded guitar. I went under track settting made sure that the input/output was set to hear on both playback and record..again the meters are showing the instrument and I get wave clips and I can hear my guitar as I am playing but nothing happens during playback...its a pc/windows 7 system. I'm thinking it's an interface problem??? but I have the latest drivers so I don't know???

I generally hate manuals and have found DUC and YouTube invaluable.

There are some video tutorials out there that can be an immense help. I have one that I got for Pro Tools 8 that has about 250 different videos that are indexed by what you are trying to accomplish. That's how I learned to use it. I haven't watched all of them but I have seen many. I just looked up what I was trying to do in the index and went directly to that video. It was light years better than trying to find something in the Pro Tools manuals. The titles of the videos actually used terminology that I understood instead of what Avid decided to call things.

I think most of the ones that I have are from a company called Groove 3. I have some tutorials from a few other companies about mixing and audio for video. Very, VERY, useful.

I have also used YouTube on a few occasions.

Any progress?

Are you using an ASIO driver? WDM? MMC?
