Got my pinch roller back today and decided to test a little with the machine.

Simple track here. Wish I had better A/D - I'd feel better about bouncing to the DAW.

Tele into my Muleskinner tweed - sm57 mic - A designs P1 preamp - Otari line in ampex 407 1/4" tape - back to DAW.

Ha - you like that, do you Larry?

Thanks guys. Well see if it proves itself as reliable enough for putting mixes through.

It's just a fun project for me to fix this thing up. I'm sure I'll use it from time to time, if not frequently for mix glue.

Otherwise, its way too expensive! I can get nice analog sounds with good converters and plugins. We are approaching that day and age, I think.

Yea, I pull out the tape on rare occasion but...it's not daily any more.

Space Echo is glorious and gives me that 1/4" sound if I want it on demand (100% wet, 1 repeat, fastest speed, time align if necessary (not running multiples through it).

Machine doesn't sound bad though, and there's a certain relaxation in making the things fly - as long as you're happy, #yoloswagswag.

Thanks all!

It sounds pretty darn good for not being aligned since the 90s probably. Havent biased or anything. Its possible that since I got the tape from the same university sale that it was still set up for that formula - it needs set up still, but perhaps thats why it works.

Sometimes its good to let the reels spin. Why not? Gives a little variety. I just look at it as a 2 bus plugin lol.

Sounds wonderful. That would make a great tune over the titles of a cheezy western rolling up the screen.
