I am not sure if I am posting in the right place, but I just purchased a Fender Modern Player Short Scale Stratocaster from Musician's Friend and it has a Guild anti-hum bridge pickup. The pickup has some side to side play in it and is not completely tight in the body like the single coil pickups are. The screws are tight into the body, so I am confused. Forgive my ignorance, I am new to guitar, but is this pickup supposed to be this way, or do I need to have the guitar looked at? Thank you for your time.

The screws are not anchored to the body, they thread into the mounting tabs on the pickup base. Same for the single coils. Not uncommon for a humbucker mounted to a pickguard to have a little wiggle to it.They just have a tendency to sometimes do that more then the singles. As long as the guitar is funtioning properly it's nothing to worry about. Enjoy your new guitar!

Yeah, Short scale Tele too. I noticed them at GC a few weeks ago but didn't play them. Looks pretty cool.

I tried to call them up on the Fender website but couldn't find them.

They've been around a while.

I built a Tele a year or so ago with a Gibson-scale neck and it is the bee's knees: super bendable with 11s or 12s on it.

But here's the scoop
