Yes, the basic VM P Bass has soft maple body, the other versions (PJ, etc.) seem to be agathis bodied. I'm wondering if anyone here has any knowledge of and/or experience with the maple-bodies model.

mr.gibson, Guess I am confused as the spec's from the link you provided shows the body to be Agathis and the neck maple (typically hard rock maple).

Yea, says agathis on the Squier site.

Normal maple neck.

It's simple.The white body version is agathis,the trans amber version is soft maple.

Yep, it says that in the specs section. I just quoted from the overview description and really didn't see the difference in the specs.

It's curious that they have different bodies for different color. I guess maple is better for transparency.
