I'm starting to GAS for a tele again.
I also need to be budget conscious.

I'm looking at the Squier Classic Vibe series and like the look of the 50's Butterscotch Blonde.
What I like about the 50's is the "Classic" tele appeal - that Blonde colour, 3 saddle bridge, Maple FB etc.
However, the one issue that I'm having trouble getting past is the pine body. I've never played or heard a pine body and I'm concerned about being too light (neck drop + possibly too bright). FWIW even the Affinity series ones are Alder.

The other CV I like is the Custom in 3-TSB.
Now this one is Alder, but has a RW FB. These are two timbers I'm familiar with both separately and in combination.
Both guitars have the same hardware and electronics, but given the different timbers, would probably yield very different tones.

So I guess the main advice/opinion/experience I'm looking for is about Pine vs. Alder.
Also, are the stock pickups in the CV's good enough to not want an immediate upgrade?

I'm not a Country player, more on the Rocky side of Blues but still appreciate clean, bridge twang tone too if that make a difference.

Any input?

edited to add:
I can't find the two guitars in a shop locally to compare. To go and do so would take about four or more hours out of my day.
That's why I'm seeking advice here first.

Pine was originally used in some Teles is why they went with it I assume.

Soundwise on a solidbody it comes down to a piece of wood versus another piece of wood - not so much type as the individual resonance.

It'll be light but not featherweight.

Neck dive I have no idea as I'm not a Tele guy at heart, they make my hands instantly cramp up and forearm starts convulsing on any I've tried in the last few years, so I just don't any more.

Pickups will be 100% serviceable these days, I haven't had the urge to change a one in any of my modern MII Squiers.

Thanks rev.
That's good to hear and one thing I can probably tick off of my list of concerns.

Actually didn't realise there was anything wrong with that exchange of info.
Now I know. Sorry for the infringement.

I presume the pickups in the CV tele, one of them is RW/RP for hum-cancelling in position 2.

Can anyone confirm??

I ended up going with the CV 50's Tele in BS Blonde.
It'll be here late next week!
