Hi everyone,

I've finished the latest video which features a song that I posted on here in demo form. I used the HD500X for the guitars with the idea that I would replace them all with my amp later on.

After listening to the final mix (once I recorded live drums) I felt that the tone from the POD was so good I decided to leave them be. (Thanks, 5Strats)

Anyway, the track is called The Long Road Home and I hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

Peter.

Excellent! After much hand wringing I actually ordered the Boss GT-001 because of it's footprint. Of course I did this just hours before you posted this teaser :-/

Seriously, I know people can and have been getting great recordings using guitar to amp to mic to console. But your tones here makes the term "diminished returns" come to mind in respect to recording an amp. And top notch playing and production doesn't hurt either :-p

Good job!

Lol! Nothing wrong with a Boss GT. I used to have a GT10 and I loved it. I do feel that the POD is a bit better in realism though. I can't speak for the GT-001 though.

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

I've always been an amp person when it comes to recording but for the first time I've had to do a rethink. Obviously modelling is certainly coming of age.

Very hard to tell the difference these days.

Very, very cool. I really like the melodies you play on the guitar in this song with the clean Strat tone.

The overdriven tone with the LP is nice too.

Oddly enough, I used Strats and an LP on my band's upcoming album too, albeit using mic'd amps instead of direct recording.

Based on the great results you achieved, I'd definitely consider recording direct with the Line 6 HD500X or something similar for future recording projects.
