I wrote this song last month and have recorded it on my little-used Boss BR-600, learning some basics about the machine in doing so.

Its about the best I can do right now, in musical and technical skill. FYI, the brief electric guitar solo was played on a 1965 Silvertone hollowbody.

The song was inspired by a friend who is facing serious cancer--a grim situation but I tried to keep room for hope.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on technical or musical issues.

Sorry to hear about your friend. That is always difficult.

It sounds pretty good to me. I like the sort of quaint sound it all has.

I'd maybe turn about with the electric guitar - theres usually a small place where you can face in the room where hum and interference is almost null. Its a pain, but I think it helps...

I almost hear even more reverb tail in my head on the vocal... maybe to accentuate the vastness of the situation - but just a little...

I'm sorry to hear about your friend too.

You may want to do some panning of the different tracks just to make use of the stereo field. A touch of reverb will give some depth.

Thanks, Mark. I applied panning to a couple of the tracks but left most in the center. Good idea about the reverb. I'm moving on from this song, but will try to develop those effects in one of the other songs I am recording.
