When I sin

I sin real good

No idea, for me the selling points are the matching headstock, the lack of a skunk stripe (which is a huge one for me, but it's purely cosmetic), and possibly the bridge if it actually helps sustain.

It's not hugely more expensive, and I don't mind the color so I wouldn't see myself not buying it if I was in the market for (another) Jazz Bass.

Well, I pulled the trigger on it a few days ago, so after it arrives, I will review it on here...

It came today... First impressions were less stellar than I thought. But that was primarily the color. I have seen Lake Placid Blue and this is much lighter. Kind of like a metallic Sonic or Daphne Blue. Or you know that light blue that old VW Beetles were factory painted? More like that. But metallic.

But I noodled around on it and it's a nice bass. I'll do a full review soon.

Ok... I have determined the color is Ice Blue Metallic... NOT Lake Placid Blue.

Believe it or not, the color is really bothering me. This a beautiful bass, out of the box set up perfectly, frets are dressed perfectly... really no complaints other than the color. It's like ordering a black bass and getting a white one. May return it just for that reason...

So I returned the bass to the GC in Boise... the guy there said it was LPB, but I HAD a LPB Strat some time ago and compared the colors in a 2005 Fender Frontline I have.

Fender must have changed the color designation of LPB to Ice Blue Metallic at some point... what a shame...

Well that is like Squier Classic Vibe P bass in Fiesta Red compared to Fender Fiesta Red. The Fender 60's Classic I got and returned once was a Hot Pink version of Fiesta Red. Looked girly to me whereas the CV 60's P Fiesta Red was more redishish which I loved. Looking at photos on Sweetwater it appears Fender and Squier have two different interpretations of LPB (compared the model you ordered with Fender Strats in LPB)

Hmmm... that's so not right. It's weird, the photos on the Squier site and the Guitar Center site LOOK like the Lake Placid Blue I know, but that could be my monitor...

I love Fiesta Red, BTW

Oh, I ended up ordering a Squier VM Sunburst Jazz, which is what I should have done originally

davisonvw, did you get the maple neck with inlays or the rosewood with dot inlays

Rosewood with dot inlays. I have the VM '70's Jazz so wanted the rosewood, sunburst with a '60's vibe. Arrive yesterday. I keep looking at it and it reminds me so much of the Fender American Series Jazz Bass from a few years ago. It is a flawless beautiful bass. I just replaced those stupid chrome control knobs with the black Jazz Bass ones and will get chrome covers for it soon.

Set up was perfect out of the box and the frets are dressed perfectly. No complaints. MUCH nicer than the MIM Fender Standard Sunburst Jazz GC has for $350 or so more than this one.

Sounds really nice. I prefer Rosewood over Maple fretboard. Let us know how it does in live situation. I have a Squier VM Jaguar special with a neck that feels as good as the Fender American Special Jazz I wish I never had to let go.
Have a Fender MIM FSR that is nice but the neck on the Squier feels a little better.

The only live situation right now is through a practice amp in my house :-(

I used to be in a couple of weekend warrior bands, but no one here amongst my friends seem to play.

I will be putting a set of Swing 77 flats on it.

davisonvw, back in 1974 I discovered the 77's and loved them. My only dislike is they started to go flat on me in about 3 weeks.

I love the flats... if they die out, it makes the sound that much thumpier!

In Idaho, musicians are few and far between.

I gave up on finding people years ago out here.

reverendrob, I hear you! I'm in no big hurry to play in a band, but I do have a friend that's a guitarist that I'm getting together with Saturday to noodle about. When I lived on both coasts, there were friends a plenty, but then I had more time!

I like smooth highs, not so much mid range growl, pounding but not muddy or dull lows

These days, I just have friends that stop in while on tour or in the area for whatever and we make noise for a few days.

Every once in a while I have the hippest room in the state.
