It belongS to the keyboardist from one of the bands I play with. We had a rehearsal at his house and he said I could just use one of his guitars, and the Jag happened to be out.
Believe it or not, this was the VERY FIRST TIME I've ever played a Jag! Too bad this thing was a mess. The controls were dirty to the point of non-functionality, the strings were old and lifeless, and the amp controls were as bad if not worse than the ones on the guitar. Yet still.... I got a sense that this guitar could play as good as any, and would have some serious tone. Not sure about those sliding toggle switches, though. Seem a little strange.

Nice! Do you know how the toggle switches work and what they do? They're pretty cool once you get the hang of them.

LOL... it was about all I could do to get the controls in a stable enough position to get any tone at all. But what I heard was sort of sweet. So no, I have no clue what the controls do.

Oh yeah, it had one of those plastic back covers, too. I forgot that those things actually existed.

My first good guitar was an old sunburst Jaguar that I bought off our bass player's brother....for $150.
No idea what year it was, but it was well-worn when I bought it back in 1970.
I got a lot of years out of that guitar before I traded it in on a Strat - which was much "cooler" then.
There are times when I really wish I still had that old Jag.

I have to admit that it gave me a bit of a GAS attack, but I keep agonizing over how to downsize my current stock as it is, so bringing in *another* git would just make it even harder.

I love the surf genre so a RI Jag I have. I did play a friend original '65 not long ago and thought is had mojo and then some. It's a total relic, relic'd from age and being played the rust buck that it was.
I got to play a '65 Strat about three weeks ago too. I can't say it was any better than my modern instruments sound wise but the vibe was excellent.

Yeah, the vibe on the old ones is cool. I almost bought a '65 case queen Jag around Christmas. I just couldn't bring myself to buy something I'd be afraid to scratch.
So the switches - the three at the bottom are on/offs for each pickup and a bass cut switch.
At the top, the wheels are a separate set of volume and tone controls. When the switch is down, they're deactivated. When the switch is up, only the neck pickup is on and it uses the alternate volume/tone. It's called the rhythm circuit, I think, for obvious reasons.
