I stopped at our local pawn shop. I do repair work for the owner and help him with values on stuff he's selling.

He bought a "student" classical guitar, in great shape for $60. I saw the model, Gibson C-1 Classical.

I looked up the serial number...1964, and a price guide...$500-800.

Needless to say, the owner is thrilled. He won't get rich, but he'll make a few more bucks than the $80 he was going to sell it for.

Interesting description on Reverb.con. "tortoiseshell pickguard" doesn't seem to be a feature that is shown in the photos or something found on a classical guitar from any maker.

Good on ya for helping out.

You are a man of integrity, Steve. You could have offered to "take it off his hands" for a much lower sum for it, but you didn't.
I applaud you!

Steve, nice work. I found one of these at a local pawn shop for $69. I don't think they knew what they had. The "Gibson" decal was almost invisible and I don't think they saw it.

The owner sold the guitar for $250, which he thought was fair. The new owner could flip it if he wanted.

I really had no need of a classical guitar. I usually don't buy stuff to flip it.

It was a very nice guitar.
