I've been out of the loop. But has the custom shop strayed away from calling guitars generic like 1960's or 1950's.
I've noticed that vintage custom shop of recent years have a specific year, Like 1964 NOS or 1962 NOS, or 1962 Relic.
So have they gotten rid of the generic year like 1960's NOS or 1960's Relic?

Looking at the Wildwood Guitars website, they still are offering a great number of "60s Stratocasters" in various states of relic, etc.

Oh OK
I was just surprised to see Custom Shops for specific years.
I just purchased a 2012 NOS 1962 Stratocaster. I was surprised that I found one for a specific year. Even Fender sent me info on the serial and it's a specific 1962. I thought Fender Custom Shop only made "60's Stratocasters".

The first CS guitar I ever bought was labeled a 1954 Strat back in 1992. The last CS shop guitar a 1960, that I purchased a couple years ago.

So I guess they have been doing that forever. I didn't know. I just remember always seeing 1960's NOS, Closet Classic, and/or Relic.
Now I see them in specific years as well.

I have two that are year specific, a NOS '61 Strat and a NOS '62 Tele Custom. Both are left-handed.

I just bought a 1959 journeyman relic. Probably because 59 was a transitional year.
