Changing out 60 year old capacitors on a 1951 Hammond Tonewheel Generator, which generates the tones in my 1951 Hammond RT-2 Console.

The generator is full of wax paper capacitors. After 60 years these caps have drifted way out of tolerance, in some cases they now measure 8 or 9 times their original value! This causes major problems in the tuned circuits of the tonewheel generator.

Fun job. I should do this to my 1955 RT3. I would do the vibrato line while was at it.

Enjoy!

Hammond101,
I did my vibrato line box last year and it made a noticeable improvement. If your '55 has those wax capacitors in it like mine, they are guaranteed to be way out of tolerance. You can find the vid I did on the vibrato on my YT channel. I have been doing the vids for a different forum but I figured some folks on this one might enjoy seeing the guts of an old Hammond tonewheel organ.
