L280SN and L280SM.

Going to put them into my Deluxe Lone Star Strat.
There's already a HB in the bridge, hence only the N & M pups ordered.
Becky suggested the L280's as a good match with the HB.

I've been wanting to try some Bill's pups for a while now. I'm a big fan of Lace for noiselss pups, but already have 2 guitars fitted with them, so am looking to mix it up a bit.
I'm quietly confident that I'll be happy with the result based on posts I've read here. (not much out there in YT Land for demos unfortunately)

It'll be about 5-6 weeks before they get here.
4 weeks to fill the order + 7-10 days for postage to AUS. Customs clearance is usually pretty good here, but you can add about 2 days to the time they land here.

Anybody here (5Strats?) know from experience if the 280's are hotter/higher output than the stock Texas Specials that are in the DLSS?

I just ordered some of the same pickups but tele versions.
I have not received an order confirmation or a reply to the e-mail I sent. Should I be worried ?
Ordered on Monday and today is Wednesday, I should have got some acknowledgement right ?
Do they usually take this long to respond ? I know it takes a while for them to ship but that's not the issue.

Hi RAG,

I've read a few comments about slow or little correspondence with the Bill Lawrence gang.
They are still very much a "Mom & Pop" operation and I think Becky does the best she can since Bill passed. And, even when Bill was alive, I don't think it it was much different. That said, I've *never* seen any comments about people not getting their order.

If you paid through PayPal, I think that's pretty much the only confirmation you'll get.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if it makes you feel better, just give Becky a call.
I called on a Tuesday afternoon CA time from Australia and she picked up after 2 rings. She's very helpful and doesn't mind a chat!

I have the L200/L290 and have yet to plug the guitar into an amp (I do mostly DI recording these days). My perception is that their output is pretty close to the DiMarzio Area 58's I had in there before.

Their website could use some tweaking but it's always best to check "View Pickups Available Now" for what you want. My first order with BL was for a set of L202TN & L200TL for my Tele, that took quite a while. The L200/L290 I ordered from their Avail Now section and got them much faster.

"Should I be worried ?"

Nah.

"Do they usually take this long to respond ?"

Yep. I didn't get anything but an immediate Paypal notification, and then much later a shipping notification.

It's how they roll. You can try calling Becky, who also pops in here now and then.

Hi littleuch.
I knew one of the FDP regulars had got some BL's recently! I thought it 5Strats! Sorry!

Re: the "Available Now" section, when I spoke to Becky earlier in the week and asked about those pickups, she said she needs to "get in there and fix that". The Pickups currently listed there aren't actually "available now".

She said there's been a hiccup with getting some new software installed and working to do the updating/editing. Unfortunately we had a absolutely horrid phone connection and I had a bit trouble hearing everything.
Which was a shame because I would have liked to chatted a bit more. She was very pleasant and I got the feeling we could have talked a lot more had the phone lines been more cooperative.

She also said she needs to get back on here (the FDP) and check in. So keep an eye out!

Ordered pickups way back on 12-8-14 per my original post and still have not heard anything from Lawrence. Called today and left a message on their 800# and hope to get a response. I think I got lost in the shuffle or something.

Any luck, Ragpicker? I know I was charged immediately and it took a good long while to get notification of shipment, but you're rounding the corner on 2 months. I also notice their conspicuous absence up top from the sponsor list, so maybe their business is in some sort of transition.

Anyway, Once I received and installed them I've been a happy customer.

O.K. here's the latest.
Spoke with Becky by phone twice now and she says they will ship pickups this weekend. No indication what the delay was but she did respond once I finally called. Hopefully the pickups will be great when I get them installed and then I can put this away. I ordered the L200 set for my 69 Thinline RI.
Anyone using these ?

Yep, L200/L202. Love 'em. Careful installing the bridge pickup in a standard Tele plate. Watch the wrap as you raise the pickup and make sure it doesn't get snagged. My opinion is they're all Tele business but the noise.

Becky updated their homepage with a note that they're backlogged.

Well my last post was Feb 5th when Becky said the pickups would ship that weekend. Here it is the 19th and nothing. Maybe I wasted my money ? I would call her again but I think that would not help at this point. Don't want to harass her. But Damn.........

It's not harrasment. You paid for something you never received. You have every right to ask them for your money back without feeling guilty. If that doesn't work, then take action through your credit card company or Paypal if that's how you paid for them.

RAGPICKER:
I'm quite sure it's a matter of "when" not "if" you'll receive your pickups. I've not heard of anyone NOT getting their order, but as I expressed above, I pulled the pin early (at seven weeks???) and got a refund.
The refund was in my PayPal account within half an hour after I left a message on Becky's voicemail.

In my message I had said that I "wanted to know the status of my order or would like to discuss the possibility of refund."

Next thing I know there's an email from PP saying I received a refund from Bill Lawrence.

Sounds like I'd still be waiting too.
I'll be interested in hearing what you think when you get the pups as to whether it was worth the wait.

In the last umpteen years that I've been on this forum I can't recall anyone who didn't Lawrence pickups are anything but fantastic quality (tonal judgements are of course up to the ear of the beholder and the model of pickup you buy). It's a shame they are having hard time getting them out the door fast enough. That itself may speak to their popularity and reputation as excellent pickups.

Like Mick said, it's not a question of "if" you'll get them but "when". Personally, I'd be patient and happy to wait. But we each make our own decisions as we need to.

I was thinking the same thing. But I will gladly let the lack of lightning fast delivery slide if that means being able to count on the high quality of the product. In fact, I just ordered another set of L-280/290 pups for one of my Strats. They really are fantastic!

I've installed 3 different sets of pickups in the guitar I was going to put the Wilde Bills in.
Third set was the keeper for me.

I'd still be waiting if I hadn't cancelled my order.(ordered same time as you RP)
Probably even longer with the shipping to AUS, Customs etc.
