Just (two days ago) got a used CV Tele and it is quite an amazing instrument regardless of price.
But it seems a tad too bright...finger nails on the black board bright. Outside off rolling off the treble do you folks have any suggestions?

Don't have anything useful to contribute as far as why it would sound overly bright. I also just found a used CV Tele and it has a sweet, even tone that I really love. Mine has become one of my favorite guitars.

I will say that mine had the pots replaced with Mojotone CVS pots by the former owner but can't say what affect that might have had on tone since I had not heard it stock.

You are right about these being amazing. What color did you get? Mine is the vintage blond.

I have the blonde - not the butterscotch. Great guitar. I play it as much as I play my 1998-9 American Deluxe strat and my MIM Jimmie Vaughan strat. Both of which are excellent guitars, imo.

I'm getting used to her sound...maybe replace the tone pots and selector switch 'just because' We'll see. Bridge adjustment screws need replacing as they have really sharp edges. Easy fix.
But I do like this guitar.

I do not find mine too bright in fact I was quite amazed at how balanced the bridge PUP was tone wise. My preconception was that it would be bright but it was not. Have you checked the capacitor?

Adjusted PUP height and they were way off the mark. Things are getting better. Will check the cap at some point too.

Hi Wickedwillie,

I lowered my bridge Pup to match the output of the neck PUP they do tend to get a wee bit more mellow as the PUP height goes down. I have a Strat with Texas specials and never really liked the sound until I lowered the PUPS below what most folk would have set them. I am a firm believer in lower output PUPS for many reasons but it took me over thirty years to realize that less is more !!!

Hey Blue360
Originally neck pup was way low so I moved it up to match output with bridge. Maybe I should have lowered the bridge to match neck. Darn now I gotta find my screw driver again.
