FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Jaguars & Jazzmasters / Thin Skin Jag Question

I've been eyeballing a Classic Player, but I've come across a TS Jaguar that looks pretty cool. One question I have, though, is about the pickups. Do the pickups in the Thin Skin Jags hum-cancel when both pickups are on?

Also, if anyone has played both a TS and a CP, any discussion of neck profiles would be nice. I've played both but not at the same time.

It's not just good..

...it's good enough.

Not sure about the Jag, but my Thin Skin Jazzmaster DOES do the hum-cancelling thing with both pickups on (i.e., one of them is reverse wound).

The TS neck profile was described as "Modern C", but mine is a little beefier than most Modern C's I've played on the American-built Strats. The 9.5" radius and med-jumbo frets likely contribute to that feel, as well.
FWIW - my JM is one of the nicest Fender guitars I've ever played, let alone owned. This one is definitely in the "lifetime keeper" category.

Haven't touched a TS anything, way out of my price range.

My CP Jag has an absolute baseball bat of a neck, bigger than any of my other 24" scale Fenders or Squiers by a mile.

It's not unpleasant or uncomfortable, but I wouldn't exactly call it a typical Jaguar neck.

Not sure if mine is an anomaly or not.

I have a TS Jag. and it does what you are asking. It is basically a 62 AV Jag with some extra bells and whistles.

reverendrob, I like that description of the CP. The one here is big, too. Not as big as a new AVRI Tele neck or something like a Hot Rod 62, but nice. I like big necks and I cannot like. You other brothers can't deny.

I have a J. Mascis JM and if I were to step up to a TS or AVRI, I would have no qualms about doing it with a JM. I love that guitar. I just haven't played any at any level that have felt better put together than my Squier. I did spend a year finding the right one, though.

But I've never owned a Jag. I stupidly passed up an opportunity just after college to buy a pair of '62s that the guy was only selling as a pair for $1900. It would have cost every penny of credit I had, but sometimes I think I should have done it. I like the CP pickups and I often don't get along with really expensive guitars.
