FDP Forum / The Squier Forum / Will a Joe Barden vintage style bridge fit a Squire

Feb 8th, 2014 01:38 PM   Edit   Profile

Hi does anyone know if the Joe Barden vintage style bridge for the American Standard Fender tele will fit on a Squire?

I have a partscaster that I put together and I believe the body is from a Squire that was bought around 10 to 12 years ago and If memory serves me well made in Korea, but I have no details because the neck etc are all long gone. The bridge looks the same as a six saddle American standard bridge though I don't think this is a Squire bridge either as the quality is very high ( not a criticism of the Squires by the way)

I know there is a difference in the bridge mounting holes 3 on mine 4 on the Barden, but from what I have read the two outer holes should match up.

Probably, but no way to definitively know, because over the years, different hardware has been used on Squiers.

What I would do:

Send an email to Barden and ask for a drawing or a description of the bridge plate that includes dimensions. If they''re interested in selling you one, they will provide the info. Compare what you receive with measurements you take of your Squier bridge plate and see if they match.

I have two Made in Indonesia Squier teles and want to change out the bridges to vintage bridges. I'm intersted in whether or not it will fit.

Hey Fscott I measured the bridge I took off the Squire body and the Barden bridge doesn't match up according to the diagram they sent me. the front two screw holes and outer two on the back are closer together on the Barden by 4mm, the string spacing is different as well, but will possibly work if the bridge is positioned correctly. Send me an e mail to gazzas@blueyonder.co.uk and I'll send you the diagram if you like.
