What happened to the video of the 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb? Can't find one anywhere. Not on Fender's web site either. (??)

"It's Arriving Soon" ...hmmm...

...and from the specs:

✓Two 10" Celestion TEN 30 Speakers deliver crunchy modern tones

Anyone had any experience with these? I'm always skeptical of these EOM Celestion speakers.

Someone on another site theorized: Fender may have had a few in public hands, had some negative feedback (no pun intended), and delayed mass distribution until they "get it right". Good theory, and looks favourably upon Fender if they're trying to ensure this series hits the mark. Afterall, we're a tough crowd.

...but c'mon already...

They would have to do something a little different to make it different than the custom, it seems. because the end result is that the speakers and appearance are all that might be changing (unless they use a tube rectifier for a change).

This amp would be part of the 68 Custom Series. That's the "new" Silverface looking series that includes the 68 Custom Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and Princeton Reverb. Reverb and tremolo on both channels, increased negative feedback for an earlier breakup and increased touch sensitivity, Celestion speakers, modified Bassman tone stack on Normal channel, vintage 60's circuitry on the Bright channel, etc.

Fender probably said the hell with it.

Seems every time they introduce a new old amp, the Internet is ablaze with comments like "But it's not hand-wired", or "But it's made in Mexico", and the ever popular "Yeah, I want one, but not for THAT price."

Hi!

Yes, I agree with what pinetree said.
Plus, it seems like Fender is having a hard time these days with their new amplifiers...
When the "Excelsior" came out everyone was talking about it - Supersonic was just that way. Thousands of posts throughout the net on the Champion 600 - makes you wonder why there´s so little talk about the sf-reissues, the Vaporizer - and what not...

cheers - C.

Seems to me, Fender has a bad habit of throwing TOO MUCH "spaghetti on the wall" to see what sticks. Maybe if they focused their lines a little more, and stopped with the new-every-year-cheap-amps, more people would pay more attention to their REAL amps, like the Supersonic line, which is the best NEW amp Fender has made since Zinky was there.

Fender's in the bidness of selling stuff...

like new-every-year-cheap-amps.

It is what it is, and we're all free to buy other brands.

Interesting. I think the original was 40 watts, this is 35 watts. Wonder if the weight is still about 45 lbs? Waiting for the reviews before looking any further.
