Okay, as mentioned in another thread, I was looking for a decent 335 style guitar without having to spend 3 grand on a Gibson (and possibly get something underwhelming at that price).

Ishibashi in Japan had a late '70's Yamaha semi-hollow for under a grand, so I ordered it this morning. With shipping it was around $980, which, if it's even above average to good will be an excellent price. In the late '70's, Japan was making some great stuff, so I'm crossing my fingers with expectation!

I have no idea how quickly they ship (by air obviously), but I suspect I'll have it by Friday! Let's just call it a late birthday/Christmas present (1/4 & 12/25).

I'm also waiting on the Larrivee Lancaster (modern Strat-style) that I ordered about a month ago. Larrivee said it would be in March sometime, which is coming fast.

Anyone else made their first lefty gear purchase of 2014?

semi-hollow goodness

I ordered a Celestion Creamback speaker for my Tone King Imperial amp. The Creamback is standard with the newer 25th Annversary Imperials.

I'm negotiating the final price on a 1939 Gibson L-5 arch top, which has been a 1 owner guitar sine it was purchased new by the owner in early 1940. It's nearly all original except for a repro guard, and a refret about 10 years ago.

I just pulled the trigger on a Martin D-18 from Dave's Guitars. Killer deal and very easy folks to work with. It should be here the beginning of the week. I recently sold a couple of Strats so I figured I'd roll some of the cash over into a good acoustic. I sold my CS Master built 50th anniversary Strat and a CS '59 hardtail relic, both were great guitars but I just didn't play them enough. They deserve to be played regularly.

Martin D-18's can be killer guitars - good choice.

I have a Larrivee dread with hog b/s and an Italian Spruce top - wonderful guitar!

It's now May ... anyone bought any left gear in the last couple months?

My SG Standard will be on it's way back to me - should arrive sometime next week.

Now I REALLY need to sell some stuff!

I just purchased a 2013 Martin 000-15 SM which should be here early next week and I ordered a Martin CEO-7 which hopefully will be ready mid-June. And I'm embarrassed to admit to it, but I ordered one of the Taylor Holden Village LE Mini's which won't be ready for 6-8 weeks, so I'm getting ready for a major sell off.

I have a 2012 Am Std Tele body that I recently bought a bridge for (much more difficult to find than a vintage lefty bridge) and GraphTech saddles (only ones I could find for Am Std lefty Tele). I have a Wilde L-290TL pickup for bridge and ordered a L-280TN. Haven't decided on a neck for it (Fender/Allparts/WD Music/Warmoth).

bluelake07,

The neck really depends on your preferences. If you like the size and shape of Fender necks, you can probably get one as reasonably priced as the aftermarket ones ... and it will be the real deal.

If you want a bigger neck or a wider nut, I'd suggest Warmoth. I've seen necks from all three, and I personally think Warmoth uses the best quality wood and does the best work. JMO.

BTW, if you've never tried them, Bill Lawrence's pickups are very good.

Nada. Other than the possibility of a dreadnought (D-28, HD-28, or similar), I'm not really in the market for anything.

However, every time I stop by Southpaws, I head straight over to the 000-28s that Jimmy has in stock.

If I did a list of what I would like in no particular order

a lefty firebird - because they look cool.
a MIJ jaguar got to have a matching headstock and lake placid blue - I occasionally look for one
Squire Bass VI if they ever made one

A custom Shop Nocaster - missed out one once and I'm kicking myself. actually this would be at the top of my list.

wouldn't mind a nice parlour guitar.

Sure, if they're lefty clubs!

I'm left-handed at everything - EXCEPT golfing and batting... I couldn't do those left-handed if I tried!

Weird, I know...
