busta-The smoked PA head can't be fixed for a decent price or is it cheaper to buy a new one?

Those units have worked really well for a long time!

Busta, are you half-savvy with electronics? Many pieces like that Behringer PA head have internal fuses (sometimes one or more on the PC board, not including the user-replacable one on the rear panel).

Crack it open and look around near the power supply section.

If you are not that adventurous, send it to me and I'll have a go.

Most of the Behringer products tend to be throwaways when they go down. We stopped servicing them, along with a bunch of others, several years back before I officially retired back in October. That said, there are some fairly basic repairs that can be done to these units before they are declared "histois".

I pulled it apart & found the internal fuse.
The glass on both fuses has a white tint & you can't see inside.
Am I right in thinking they'll
show a dark spot if they blow ?

Take 'em out & measure with an ohmmeter- should be zero ohms.

If nothing "lights up" and all visible and accessible fuses are good, you might well have a blown fuse inside the power transformer winding.
