I placed an order last week for a Larrivee Lancaster (modern Strat-style)... it will be like the one in the linked photo: Shoreline Gold body - but it will have a maple board and white pickup covers.

Larrivee is actually discontinuing this shape, and will start producing a standard Strat shaped body in 2014. They said this is the request they're receiving from a majority of guitar players they talk to.

So...I will have the ONLY left-handed one in the old shape, because I actually like its uniqueness. I have enough Strat shaped guitars (4 Warmoths I've built).

It probably won't get finished until around March, because Larrivee is moving all their Canadian production to California over the new year, so lots of transition.

So I just have to forget about it for now, and stash a few $$ away...

That's a very tele-looking headstock.

That looks really nice. I was unaware of the Lancaster model, but I like their Bakersfield (Tele) model with body contours that has a regular Tele neck pickup or a mini humbucker option.

Yeah, agreed on the headstock. I suspect the new version will have a more strat-style headstock to go with the body - will be interesting to see how 'close' they get without breaking trademark.

bluelake07 - I had a Bakersfield - actually the first lefty made - and it was a beautiful guitar. Problem is, I almost never play a Tele-style guitar live for the stuff I do, so I finally decided to let it go. I'm getting to the point in my life where I don't need guitars sitting around if I'm not going to use them. I have a Warmoth Tele build for those rare times when that might be required or desired.

Larrivee makes nice stuff for very good prices... custom shop level stuff for a lot less than Fender Custom shop prices. People just have to get over their 'headstock-itis'!

Congratulations! How many Larrivees will that make now; 6 or 7?

BTW, the Lancaster's shape sort of reminds me the Yamaha Pacificas.

Since I sold the Bakersfield, I currently have five Larrivees - three acoustics and two electrics.

This will "even things up," but there are a couple other acoustics I'm also interested in (I talked with Matthew Larrivee last week about another quasi-custom build - a CS-09 - which is a smaller body florentine cutaway like the C-10 I just got).

Matthew said he has some Peruvian Walnut that they're really liking the tone of, and occasionally they get some very figured pieces in, so he's going to hang onto a nice set for me for this build.

That will probably get ordered right after I get the Lancaster.

My daughter is getting married in May 2014, and I've been stashing away money for that... now that she's decided where to have the wedding and reception, I know what that will cost (much less than I was planning), so that will make the CS-09 build very doable down the road.
