hi all

my coronado XII - the jack socket came loose and in tightening it, shorted the jack socket wiring.

it's a dumb design: not enough meat on the thread to put washers and tighten it properly.

but how to get to it to resolder the jack socket?

thanx

It shorted out probably because the shield on the wire contacted the center tang on the jack when the jack was spun around in there.

Best bet is to loosen the nut, remove it and the washer, and then fish down into the bottom of the F hole with a little wire bent into a hook to pull the jack out the F hole.

It helps to carefully apply 3M blue painter's tape around the F hole to prevent scratching the face of the guitar as you work.

Unsolder the jack and replace it with a new one. Switchcraft brand is best.

Cheers and merry Christmas, Barry.
