FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Jaguars & Jazzmasters / New Jaguar Owner - pickup question

Hey there. New member and I just picked up an E series CAR MIJ Jag on CL. I have admired the offset guitars for a while and I was seduced by the looks and killer deal I got. The neck is to die for and I have already put in a Mustang bridge so it plays like a dream. I can live with the switching.

The neck pickup is pretty nice, but the bridge pickup was weak by comparison and I could not get a decent balance between the two, even with the neck pup at its lowest and the bridge pup up close to the strings. I changed the stock bridge pup for a Fender AVRI, and it's still weak sounding. Thinking about going to a Duncan SJAG-2. I play mostly clean. Would like the bridge pup to be a bit hotter to balance with the neck pup and have more low end for the same reason. Feedback from those in the know would be appreciated!

Sorry - to clarify - I'm talking about the volume balance between the bridge pup and the neck pup within the lead circuit. The bridge pup is as close to the strings as I can get it, but the neck pup is still much louder. Is this typical for Jags? Is there a replacement bridge pup that will balance better with the stock neck pup?

Are you absolutely certain they're origial pickups as well?

Even the previous owner might not know if they bought it used etc.

I mention it because swapping out the PUs on MIJ offsets is ridiculously common, and some people only want certain things when they swap.

Also possible that somebody's screwed around with the wiring.

Or the PUs could just be stock junkers.
