so..... any thoughts about Clamfest Spring 2014?

I've been sentenced to work in Houston for several months
the bad thing is that I'm in Texas and is it getting hotter and more steamy by the minute

the good thing is that I'm stuck in a hotel room and have absolutely nothing to do but Practice

if I had a guitar

anyone ever tried one of these? Pricey but might just meet the need

SteveCarlo - I'm glad you broke the ice on Spring '14 OTL; I've been checking for picnic's announcement, so I can get it on the calendar.

Can't help you on the Traveler Pro, however. I'd use my Martin LX1 acoustic, or bring a broken-down Tele and a Microcube in my suitcase.

here's the news from ClamFest hq. I'm going to skip the spring jam this year and just do one in the fall. May 17 is booked eith a big wedding. Weekend before and after are tough with Mother's Day and Memorial Day.
there are more jams on the east coast this year which is a good thing. The fall jam in NJ to cap off the year at the OTL will be a chart topper.

Once the OTL is in season there is no going back... this is why Pete being the great player that he is does not play in a band locally. He is all work sun up till sun down once the season is here

We will have to make the Fall 2014 Clamfest something special....

and as Pete says there are a lot of east coast jams this year...yes none are Clamfest but all are fun

so.. sentenced to Texas and not even the prospect of a ClamFest parole to to give me hope

oh well. more power to Pete for the success of the OTL
and we'll just labor to make Fall Fest even clammier
we got 7 months to practice

(unless a date in April works...?)

I'm looking on the bright side:

(a) If I go on a road trip this spring I won't have to worry about missing Clamfest, and,
(b) By fall I might have a chance to get back some horn chops. Or maybe I should say "get" without the "back!"

I've been playing alot down here in Florida with the XM radio and a band. Everytime I hear a great horn song on satellite, I think of the OTL horns doing the tune on stage. the horns really took the music to a higher level.

"Once the OTL is in season there is no going back..."

Yeah, I figured that. Unfortunately, the east coast is a big area, and south Jersey is about as far as my wife will let me wander.

How about we start the songlist earlier, so I can really nail whatever I-IV-V I need to work on?

Pete- hope you are writing those horn tunes down!!

It takes a while to chart em out for the guys so any advance warning we get is a plus!

Also connected with a trombone player who fits in well with the group. So we may have all 3 saxes, trumpet and bone... now THAT'S a horn section.

"I've been playing alot down here in Florida with the XM radio and a band. "

great, just great. worst winter up north in years and Picnic is in Florida in a band doing the Jimmy Buffet thing

probably isn't even wearing underpants

we might never get him back... Oh well it was fun while it lasted

on a side note I found a used Washburn R10 travel guitar (thank you for the link G-man). full scale, cheap, good reviews, cheap, hard case included. Cheap. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I will let you know. did I mention it was cheap? Sentence in Texas extended to the end of May and possibly beyond
