i have an olympic white pro tone strat with red pick guard has a 6 digit serial 011275. serial located right above neck plate on the neck all looks original but the serial makes no sense pro tones were only made 1996-98? any help would be appreciated

Should be 7 or 8 digit. The 8 digit S/N will start with KC followed by first 2 digits is the model year(96,97,98). 7 digit starts with last number of model year. 6=96, 7=97,8=98. Also the ball of the head stock should say Pro Tone. The other thing is the bridge should have saddles stamped Fender and it is a American vintage bridge. If you measure from center to center of the two outer pivot screws on the bridge, it should measure 56mm, not 52mm The neck and body neck pocket are stamped with month and year.

thanks everything else is correct fender stamped on the saddles pro tone on the headstock bridge is right also just serial number is wrong doesn't make sense but thats ok thanks again

Fender lists 6 digit serials for Korean squires to 96. Possily you have a early version. I'd be more curious what the neck and neck pocket stamping is.

pulled the neck off and body is oct 97 neck is feb 97 so i guess all is good just wanted to make sure it was real not that anyone would fake it thanks for all the info
