I have been looking to buy a 6122-1959 or 1962 and now have an opportunity to trade a my PRS limited Edition Nitro "22" for a 2004 Country Classic (1959 model). I am being told that the Country Classic 1959 is the same as a Country Gentleman. Is this correct or are there differences that should make me want to hold out for a "true" Country Gentleman.

Thanks in advance.

That particular Gent was called a "Country Classic" because it was built before the Chet Atkins endorsement was finalized.

Same guitar, just a different name.

Outstanding instruments

Have you saw and inspected the Country Classic? Check for loose or unglued binding, straight neck....I'm sure you know the drill already.

Old Gretsch guitars had issues with binding falling off at the body, neck, etc.

Best of luck.

These Country Classics are all FMIC era guitars.

No rot problems etc on these.

Sorry I should have read better. I thought bobbyk was speaking of a vintage Gretsch.
