I have learned how to play electric guitar to my satisfaction without going to a teacher. It took me longer but I was in no hurry.Have you heard any singers who were really good and entirely self taught with exercises designed for home study?I made some progress with Al Koehn material/exercises CDs,does anyone know of any other good ones?

Jeffery Allen's "Secrets of Singing" makes the most sense to me. The introduction tells you that is you need to get going in a hurry just study and work with the 1st 4 chapters. Comes in either a Male or Female edition.

I would think most rock singers are 'self taught'. The lessons/coaches--if they come at all--seem to come later.

It seems the basics never change. You gotta sell the song. It's the little things and showmanship.
