Can anyone tell me the details on a Squier by Fender Strat s/n 2896408

has the squier in large and by fender in small on he logo.

someone is selling one locally for a fair bit of $$$$ and wondering if it's one of those special squier (JV?) or just someone with little knowledge of how much it's worth

thanks in advance !

Is this the MIM series? If it is, the body and necks are MIM standard bodies and necks. Bodies are poplar. The hardware is cheap but not bad.

If it is over 150, it is too much. Sellers finding they are MIM bodies and necks think they are worth as much as a MIM standard.

Both my Mexican Squiers start with MN serials (94 and 98).

Need more info.

Unless the guitar speaks to you personally in a special way, I'd value it no more than any other Squier.

I am stretching my memory here and probably wrong but I think there was an M series that was the equivalent of the E7 series from Korea. My recollection is that these were assembled in India, (pre-modern India production). Basically, if this is the case, it is the equivalent of a very early Korean series guitar. Early MIK's were on par with later MIJs. Price wise I don't think they are anything special, I would think $150 to $200. They are great guitars and rare finds but there is no real collectibility market for them.
