It's a nickel-plated brass body blues guitar -- a Gretsch Honeydripper round neck resonator.

Never owned a steel body guitar -- time to brush up on fingerpicking blues style.

Gretsch Roots Series -- what would Chet say?!

I don't know, but I think I saw Jerry Douglas playing one of the square neck models.

I have a Regal tricone that like sorta like that. It's a nickel-plated brass body, and it is LOUD. A lot of fun to play--even with my severely limited Dobro abilities.

You gonna love it.

Played an old 1930's era National years ago.

Got to find a good slide and remember how to get to open D tuning.

Well -- returning the Gretsch. It's cosmetically wonderful -- but for a brass bodied resonator does not have that ringing sustain.

I found a Republic tri-cone on CraigsList that rang and sustained.

Made that purchase today. Got a very good deal -- brass body nickel clad resonators are not the highest demand items!
