I searched google but could not get a definitve answer. What's the differnce between the paint and how they apply the paint between say a 60's NOS and an American Vintage 62?

there isn't any

unless they spray the 60's NOS naked for added mojo ?

they're both nitro topcoats the sealer coats might be different though because production time and cost restraints

Left has it right as far as I can find. The older regular 57/62 reissues had a thicker undercoat, then nitro over, while the Hot Rods were thinskin. More like the current AVRI with the grain showing through. My Custom shop 60s reissue is really thin skin, and while it is Surf Green it still shows grain through. My Custom Deluxe on the other hand looks like a 1 inch thick glass outer coating, even though I purchased it because it was the last of the Nitro deluxes, and it has ABBYS. Each one is a little different, but now when they do nitro it seems much thinner.
