FDP Forum / Fender Custom Shop / Genuine Custom shop body or not?

Hello.

I'm looking at a custom shop relic body but am dubious as to weather it's kosher or not.

This would be my first ever stratocaster and I think it would be cool to build her up into something a bit special.

I've linked a picture, hope it works.

It clearly has 'relic' stamped into the body but if there was once any writing in the neck pocket, it's long since faded away. There's a stamp in the neck pickup cavity that the owner thinks reads '62 Relic'.

The finish looks strange, maybe white over blonde or just a worn white? The neck cavity paintwork looks odd, but what do I know?

Oh and apparently there's the code 00881 stamped in the bridge pickup cavity.

The hardware he added himself.

Any initial impressions, custom shop sages?

Another pic.

Not sure I like the way the white feathers into the blonde behind the bridge, looks like it was just scrubbed. Is this normal for a custom shop effort?

ok I've been advised that the bridge pickup rout looks a bit suspect, it does seem to go into a V rather than square off a bit.

The search continues!

Hello Custom Shop, I need some help. I have acquired A guitar that was from a Fender player/group ,Sponge,Mike Cross a 1995-1996 Strat orange with the initials KMG . Is that the Kenney Ginn ex Custom Shop builder from 1996 era? Please your help is needed. It has a mated neck, non custom shop and plays like butter....none like no-other.

Wunga, that definitely is a refin--whether it's a CS body or not. The alignment of the stamped letters in the neck pocket are a bit too far off to convince me it's a real Fender CS.

Alorenger, your pic is not working.
