Anybody compare a CS56 to the new AV56 production strat? I played an ash body version recently and it wasn't bad. I haven't had a chance to play the CS version a whlle, so it is hard for me to compare these. I must admit I'm a bit doubtful that the new AV would quite measure up to the CS version.

Isnt the new AV a 9.5 radius vs 7.25 on the older CS 56 reissue?

Don't think many have been able to A/B them.

Fair enough, sok66, makes sense. I wonder if any current cs56 owners may have played one of the AV56's.

IMO, the current AVRIs are right up there with CS RIs as far as overall quality and attention to detail goes.

This is based on very limited experience though, the AVRI '65 I purchased. Simply awesome in every respect.

Providing Fender got the neck profile right I'd be optimistic about the AVRI 56. The Vintage Reissues have been very consistent over the years. I've had an '02 Closet Classic '56 for quite a while now, scored used off the Bay. It's bit on the heavy side but is an excellent player. The previous owner gigged it a lot so it has some honest relicing. They nailed the neck profile on the Custom Shop 56s, no reason to think they didn't get the production version right.
