too many guitars and not enough hands
Dec 16th, 2012 07:31 PM   Edit   Profile   Print Topic   Search Topic

Well i've had the guitar a week now and had an opportunity to put it through its paces a couple of times. Though nowhere near enough ;(

haven't had time to scratch my behind let alone put a guitar throughly through it paces

For those that dont know i scored a 2007/8 MIJ 62 RI Tele from Ishibashi for $500 landed here down under

First off the finish for a $500 guitar this thing is almost NOS there are a couple of light scratches that you have really to look for! and candy apple is a sweet colour especially against the white guard and the binding which really sets it off

The neck is a great c shape japanese neck the quallity and consistency of these necks are unbelievable and the fret life they said was about 70% is closer to 95% its literally unplayed. and the japanese fenders always seem to have perfectly cuts nuts

The only thing was and i was told this was that the trussrod was maxed out (slight concern but when it arrived neck was dead straight and played good even with a lower action and lighter strings than i prefer)

But, after a 4 days of settling the neck up bowed. So it gave me an opportunity to loosen the truss rod off and create a little relief and also adjust the action to my tastes now it's a matter of time to see how this neck reacts.

admitadely it came from Japan where the aver temp latelys been around 43 deg F and here in Australia about 80 deg F so i expected some change in the neck the guitar did sit in its box in the delivery depot for 2 days before i got it

The pups suprisingly pretty good am i happy with the tone yes, but it could have just a little more clarity and spark other than that they have that tele bark and snap.

Hey i can always change them

but out of the box for a 2nd hand guitar its a darn good player

So is it a keeper so far yes, but this definately depends on the neck? I'll give it a couple of weeks to really let it settle and when i restring it i'll give it a full set up and then decide

CAR would have to be the hardest colour to photograph

Good review and pic...I LOVE Tele's with the double body binding - there's just something very cool about them!

Yeah your right Mikey the double binding just brings out the colour and adds that touch of class

i've always liked Candy Apple but only on the '62 Tele's,

I cant stand it on a strat or jag it just looks over the top

the binding just breaks it up and gives it a bit of depth

I took about 50 pics of that guitar in various spots and lighting and in some places it looks purple to fiesta red! that was probably the most representative colour i could find

That guitar looks identical to the Fender I had a few years ago but had to sell because of a job loss.
