They call me "The GOAT"

Back in the summer I decided to pull the trigger on a faded *lightly* reliced 57 WW10 Strat in faded sonic blue. It was one of those "what the hell, I've made enough money from playing that I can afford one last splurge" decisions. Plus, I've never owned a light blue guitar, so I figured why not.

I used it on a few gigs towards the end of the summer, and now it's my #1. By far the nicest playing Fender I've owned, with beautiful tone and sustain.

I know this is nothing new, but very new for me, and I couldn't be happier!

Nice Going! I remember you were hesitant about pulling the trigger on that one. Aren'tcha glad you did? IIRC it has an ash body so it probably rings like a great maple neck strat should. I know I love my WW10 '57 - congrats on finding a guitar you love.

Yes, I was very hesitant, but I had a pretty good year's worth of gig money to spend, so I decided to splurge. I absolutely love the soft V neck shape, and the tone and sustain are wonderful! You're right, LRO, the relic job isn't over done at all.

Gene O. I'm interested to hear what you think of the pickups in these things - I'm assuming yours has Cruz pickups. They're definitely not your run-of-the-mill reissue style pickup. I find them to be very hot versus other pickups but somehow they are still balanced (not as dark in the mids/highs) - a somewhat different character versus my other guitars that have stock pickups - especially the neck pickup which is very punchy! Sure some of it could be the wood, but I really think there is something to these pickups, which I really like BTW.

Yes, they are the Cruz pickups. I am probably not the person to be discussing the minutia of tone, but I will say that I haven't used any stock pickups in quite a long time, so it would be hard for me to compare them to stock Strat pups.

As far as heat goes, in general they don't seem to be any hotter than my Bill Lawrence L280's, and L290 (bridge), which I've been using for 10+ years. The Cruz pups are clear, well-defined, and yes, balanced. The balance may differ from the BL's as the L290 bridge pup tends to be a little hotter than normal.

I expected this guitar to be very bright, but I would say that it is more chimey and bell-like than just simply "bright"... not brittle at all.

Not sure about the neck pickup being punchier than stock pups, but I'll have to defer to my lack of recent experience with stock pups. I think the neck pup in my 66 Strat is the punchiest Strat pup I have, and I found that my BL's are comparable to the 66, and the Cruz pups are comparable to the BL's, so... there it is. lol
