I haven't seen or played one yet. Lowest price I've seen is $6000. That's a little too rich for my blood...

Thoughts from those of you who own or have played one of these?

I googled "Fender Buddy Holly Stratocater" and got a bunch of different links. Certainly the MF item came up, as did some videos of guys in Australia trying to sell the one they had in their shop(s). But there's a couple on ebay, too (can't imagine why they're so hard to sell... ;-/).

Here's a link for one going for cheap. Probably in today's market, folks with coin like this are getting harder to come by. So this cat is knocking almost $3000 off his piece. Pretty soon they'll be getting parted-out on reliable fender/stratosphere...

DEFINITELY NOT my auction!!

I wouldn't be surprised if at least 25%+ of gross sales goes straight to Maria Elena Holly.

And she didn't even attend Buddy's church service or burial ceremony. Of course, Buddy had contacted a divorce lawyer just before he left on the last trip...

Perhaps she's getting even.

Wow, prices on these are plummeting on eBay. One dealer now down to $5500 with free shipping.

Would love one. I doubt I'll ever be able to buy a 1000+ guitar again. I did the cs 60 for 1799(can you believe that great price!!!?)but even at that price didnt find it to really be worth it, to me. Id spend that kind of money on an acoustic or archtop though...

Achase: I hear you!

I've owned three Pre CBS Strats and at least a half dozen CS Strats over the years.

Fact is, my 2008 MIM Classic 50's Strat reloaded with Lindy Fralin pups is the best sounding/playing/sustaining Strat I've ever owned. No need to spend more!

My interest in the Buddy Holly Strat relates to a lifelong appreciation of Buddy's music. But there's no way I'm going to pay the asking price regardless of how much work went into building them.
