Tracing an annoying rattle down unplugged, the bridge isn't the source of all evil. Eventually added some clear nail polish on the bridge saddle screws, but the worst rattle was still there. Hand-dampening piece by piece all over, I discovered it was the PUP switch knob of all things. Word to the wise - the metallic tip on the PUP switch works loose easily and rattles like crazy at certain frequencies (E for me). Put some sticky under there if you have a 51xx.

Place a dot of threadlock or a small dab of clear nail polish *inside* the threads of the little knob, and screw it down snugly. Let it dry. Done.

A dot of Elmer's will also work really well.

No matter what you use--keep the amount to only the size of the head of a pin.

I discovered the selector switch tip loose on my new ProJet last night. IT wasn't rattling yet, but it was loose.
